The United States Equestrian Federation® has welcomed a new audience of horse lovers thanks to the recent success of Animal Planet’s new six-week series, Horse Power: Road to the Maclay. More than six million unique viewers of all ages tuned in to Animal Planet to watch the series which began February 1 and is now being re-run on Friday evenings. More than 9 million unique viewers tuned into the three horse-themed programs on Animal Planet, Trail Mix, Horsepower and the Sporthorse Cup. Defending Budweiser American Invitational champion Beezie Madden tuned up for Saturday night at Raymond James Stadium with an easy victory on Friday in the $20,000 1.50m Classic at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center. One of the most prestigious, hotly-contested equine sporting events in the country is about to take place at the Kentucky Horse Park: the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, April 27-30, presented by Farnum.
“Rolex” will serve as the primary U.S. Selection Trial for the World Eventing Championships of the FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany later this year. The Merrill Lynch Hunter Jumper Classic, North East Ohio’s premier nationally recognized horse show will take place July 8th through July 16th down at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field in Moreland Hills, Ohio. This event will take place over 9 days, one day more than in 2005. Saturday July 8th has been added to the schedule for Opening Weekend, the USEF unrecognized part of the Classic which allows riders with less experience to compete at a high level horse show.
