Despite faults for both riders today, they’re still on top
The order of finish from day-to-day at the World Equestrian Games Selection Trials changes about as quickly as the weather has through the three trials, yet one thing remains the same…Margie Engle continues to shine. Currently Engle and Lauren Hough are tied for first place with five total faults while Engle is also a close second place with nine total faults on her second mount, Hidden Creek’s Wapino. Engle took home top prize money again today, having the fastest no-fault round on her second mount, Wapino, at 79.94 seconds. (Read on…)

Hello Everyone and Welcome to Hunter Jumper News:
For those of you visiting us for the first time, we at HorseSports Media are very proud of the development effort behind the creation of Hunter Jumper News. The site you see today represents thousands of man hours of development from a truly global development team.
The site itself is based upon Open Source Code. The essence of the Open Source development model is the rapid creation of solutions within an open, collaborative environment. Collaboration within the Open Source community (developers and end users) promotes a higher standard of quality, and helps to ensure the long-term viability of both data and applications.
At HJN, we owe a debt of gratitude to a worldwide community. The site itself is an integration of three Open Source Code Systems:
• WordPress forms the basis of the blogging system
• PbpBB2 is the basis for the forum section
• Gallery2 software forms the basis for the gallery management system
The three of theses systems have been integrated into a single system at HJN. A single login system was developed so that users could register and the applications have been embedded in each other. As an example, the Photo System will allow individuals to view the various Albums as a collection, yet at the same time an Author can choose a photo in the gallery to display with his article.
We particularly want to thank the following groups:
• Joff Redfern at Yahoo.com for his development teams encouragement in creating a multiple author content management system
• Greg Oz in Melbourne, Australia headed up the embedding of the Gallery software into the Content Management System.
• Kirk Steffensen of Springfield, VA headed up the image chooser development effort. This allows images to be selected from the gallery system and displayed in the authoring system
• The entire phpBB Bulletin Board Team. The management team is truly international and is headed up by Edmonton, AB, Canada’s James Atkinson and Jonathan Stanley from Northampton, UK. Nils Aderman from Essen, Germany and Graham Eames from the UK are part of the Development Team. While support comes from the Netherlands.
• The Gallery software was originally developed by Bharat Mediratta. Today, the development is a distributed effort, with collaboration from around the globe. The team is well organized, with weekly meetings, and constant communication. According to Bharat’s son Cole, he is the nocturnal part of the team. He never sleeps.
• The Content Management System is based upon WordPress. WordPress started in 2001 with a single bit of code to enhance the typography of everyday writing on the web and fewer users than you can count on your hands and toes. Since then it has grown to be the largest self-hosted blogging tool in the world, used on hundreds of thousands of sites and seen by millions of people every day. The lead developers on the project are Ryan Boren and Matthew Mullenweg.
• A huge thanks goes out to Owen Winkler who developed HJN’s Role Management System that allows registered subscribers, press agents and authors all to create their own articles.
We hope that you have as much fun using HunterJumperNews.com, as we had in creating it for you.
Ours is a new systems integration and as with all new systems, we anticipate minor problems. Please use the Feedback Section in the Forums to list any problems that you uncover.
