Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center Currently Seeking Volunteers

August 19, 2025

Loxahatchee, FL- July 19, 2025 - The Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center (VTRC) would like to announce that it is currently seeking volunteers to assist at their Center in Loxahatchee, FL. With 17 horses, 100 rides and only three full time staff members, volunteers are an integral part of providing therapeutic equine activities to individuals with special needs. Without those people that generously give of their time VTRC would cease to exist.

The next volunteer orientation will be held Saturday, October 5, from 1-3 p.m. anyone with a giving heart may volunteer, but a volunteering parent or guardian must accompany volunteers under the age of 12. Prior horse knowledge is not required to be a volunteer, but it is valuable. VTRC depends on volunteers to help groom and tack horses, lead and sidewalk during lessons, help with basic barn work and horse care, and office work. One mother commented, “I’ve seen a huge change in my teenage daughter’s behavior since she started volunteering at VTRC. Before it was difficult to get her motivated to help with chores and now she helps clean the house without being asked.

Volunteering at VTRC can be a very rewarding experience for anyone who chooses to participate. “When I retired one of my friends encouraged me to help at VTRC because I had worked with horses my whole life and I was good with kids,” explained volunteer Jack Cohen. “I decided to give it a try and I love it! One little girl in particular sealed the deal. About two years ago, I worked with Aimee, who at the time refused to talk. When she first started riding she cried and cried, but slowly she realized that riding was fun. I will never forget the day when little Aimee had finished another speechless lesson and her mom was carrying her back to the car and I heard an unfamiliar little voice say, “Goodbye Mr. Jack.” It melted my heart. Little moments like that make it all worthwhile.”

VTRC needs about 20 volunteers are on site each day. The Center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Mondays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. VTRC asks that each volunteer be available for one hour per week, but if a volunteer cannot commit to a weekly schedule they are welcome to help with special events such as the Special Olympics, horse shows, and fundraisers.
