GOLD COAST 4 MARKS HALFWAY POINT IN GOLD COAST SERIES

BURBANK, CA -Not only did horses and riders earn ribbons and show championships at the recent Gold Coast 4 Horse Show (June 16-18) held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, but they also earned points toward the Gold Coast Series Championships. With three shows left in the series, the race is heating up.

Ten year old Kate McAdams rode her pony, Curly Sue to the Green Rider championship. Her win in the Under Saddle class clinched the tri-color for the young rider. Although McAdams has been riding for several years, this is her first year showing and competing for year end awards. Currently she is second in the Gold Coast Series standings and she is leading the Los Angeles Horse Shows Association standings for Green Riders. “She is just a perfect pony,” said McAdams of Curly Sue. “It is exciting every time I win.” Sandrine Seifert provides the coaching duties.

Amateur rider Margie Dufford had a lot to cheer about when her EQ clinched all three Modified Hunter classes. The strong showing moved the handsome dark bay horse to second in the Gold Coast Series standings. Dufford took over the ride in the “B” Adult Amateur Hunters where she earned ribbons. Stablemate Jennifer Weeks rode her Carita to a clean sweep in the Junior Hunters and moved to the lead in the Gold Coast Series. Both train with DiAnn Langer at Langtree.

In the “B” Adult Amateur Hunters, Anne Marie Mueller rode her Promise to Keep to the show championship and the lead in the Gold Coast Series. Amanda Pitton did the same with her Este Son W in the “B” Children’s Hunters 12-14.

Laura Mormann was sure she was destined to remain a bridesmaid at the Gold Coast 4 show. The stylish equitation rider finished second in three different medal classes: LAHSA Junior, West Coast Equestrians, and the CPHA Foundation. However, in the ASPCA Maclay she earned the top honors. Although she and trainer Betsy Woods laughed about the seconds, both were very happy with Mormann’s strong and consistent performances.

Complete standings for the Gold Coast Series are available online at www.langerequestrian.com special programs. Series awards will be presented during Gold Coast 7 (October 20-23). In addition to wrapping up the Gold Coast Series, the show is also host to the LAHSA “B” Championships and the CPHA Regional Horsemanship and Child/Adult Medal Finals..
