Lake Placid, NY—June 28, 2006—Laura Chapot of Neshanic Station, NJ rode Chili Pepper to victory in the Adirondack Store 1.30m Jump-off Wednesday at the 37th annual Lake Placid Horse Show.
Chapot, who will be seeking her third win in the $60,000 Budweiser Grandprix of Lake Placid CSI 3* this Sunday, topped the field of 61 horses by turning in the fastest penalty-free ride over the 13-jump, one-round course at the North Elba Showgrounds.
Riding 37th in the order, the 34-year-old Chapot finished in 50.248 seconds to take the win from Jimmy Torano of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Torano, 41, defending champion in the $60,000 Hermès Grandprix CSI 3* at next week’s 29th annual I Love New York Horse Show, had been leading with a clean ride in 51.755 seconds on Sir Neel.
