The $25,000 Fairfield County Hunt Club Grand Prix is scheduled this Saturday to Benefit The EQUUS Foundation, Inc. Admission to the event is free.

Westport, CT - Experience the thrill of the equestrian sport of show jumping - with horses hitting racehorse speeds over fences up to 5′ in height and width. Unique in its beauty and grace, show jumping is the only sport where women compete equally against men, young against old, and the team of horse and rider compete as one.

The rules are simple: jump an obstacle course of fences set on a twisting, turning course without dropping a rail or falling off and within the time allowed to qualify to come back for the jump-off round - the sport’s version of sudden death overtime. In the jump-off round, precision and speed are of the essence. The horse with the fastest time and the fewest jumping faults is declared the winner.

The $25,000 Fairfield Grand Prix is the culminating event of the 5-day Fairfield County Hunt Club June Horse Show, to benefit The EQUUS Foundation, Inc., June 20-24, 2006.
