TEAM GOLD! - FOR BRITISH CHILDREN AT EUROPEANS
July 26, 2025
Sunday 26 July 2025 - Once again, Great Britain has been secured Team Gold at the Children’s European Show Jumping Championships which this year is being held in Moorsele, Belgium.
The competition proved for nail-biting competition with both Germany and the host nation Belgium sharing first place with Great Britain after the first round on a total of zero faults. Just one point behind were Spain with one time fault and then Hungary, Turkey and France with one fence down apiece on four faults. Behind them with just an additional time fault was Switzerland making the second round of the competition one that would not only require nerves of steel but one that would need to be hard fought!
A foot-perfect double clear round from the teams pathfinder, twelve year old Amy Inglis from Haywards Heath, West Sussex with her father Duncan’s bay mare Happy Ending meant that we were still on zero faults before the second of our four team members went forward.
Next to go was 14 year old Laura Robinson from Northallerton, North Yorkshire riding Mr G Robinson’s seven year old bay mare Cashmira. Having produced a superb clear in the first round, Laura had an unfortunate fence down in the second round resulting in an unlucky four faults, however bearing in mind the amount that the course had risen from the first round and the number of faults being notched up by the other nations, the British Team were still in an incredibly strong position to win the Championships.
Third to go was 13 year old Ella Curley from Hartfield, East Sussex riding Simon Paul’s sixteen year bay gelding Lucky. Another superb performance from Ella resulting in a double clear for their efforts guaranteed Great Britiain to take no more than 4 faults through as our final score. Even more importantly it meant that as a result we had done enough to secure a Gold Medal having seen all the other Nations that had been contenders fall by the wayside before we’d even jumped our fourth member!
James Shore, aged 13 years from Northwich, Cheshire riding his fathers bay mare Pascal IV made up the fourth member of the team carrying forward just four faults in the first round and an unlucky two fences and a time fault in the second.
A jubilant Corinne Bracken, Chef d’Equipe for the British Children’s Team commented “Once again the British Childrens Team have shone in Europe. This has been the most fantastic competition where we have not only seen great talent coming through but the importance of team spirit and the role it can play in achieving success. I’m thrilled with the team’s achievements today and we are now looking ahead to tomorrow where we will contest the Individual medals on offer!”
The Childrens Squad is sponsored by the British Show Jumping Association and the Team Clothing is kindly provided by both Toggi and NEXT.
