Hamburg Jumping Derby

The individual standings would be determined by Sunday’s German Jumping Derby. The Weather made Sunday a challenging day at Hamburg. The conditions were demanding and far from optimal. The rain continued to fall, making a demanding course even more difficult. Frank Rothenberger had created a 17 obstacle course with 26 efforts for the event. The warm up area in the rain became a sea of mud.

Still the fans were there. To give you an idea of just how difficult the course had become, after just five starts, there we already three eliminations. Only Toni Hassmann with the 11-year old gelding Collin managed to make it through both the course and the jump off with clear rounds.

Hassman as the only double clear performer over this monster course took home the trophy along with 1st place money of 35,000 Euros. It was Hassman’s third win in a row and the German fan’s appreciated his performance as they stood and yelled “Toni, Toni, Toni” as Hassman cleared the last jump.
