The Opening Day Competition at Piazza DiSiena was a Table A Against the Clock (Art. 238.2.1) without a jump off at a height of approximately 1.40m. There were 57 entries in the class that competed over an 11 obstacle course with two doubles designed by Giovanni Bussu. Twenty-five of the riders managed clear rounds. Horses that competed in the opening competition were exclude from competing in the next two classes.
Molly must like opening competitions. Two weeks ago at Herzlich, Germany she and Lutopia won the opening day class at that event. Today, Molly was one of 3 American’s entered and was almost two seconds faster than the rest of the field. Riding Jane Clark’s Lutopia, Ashe was 52nd in the order of go and took the opening day competition to kick off week 3 of the Super League. Laura Kraut riding Nocturnal finished in 30th place with 4 faults and Candice King on Constantin, also with 4 faults finished in 31st place.
