Morris names US Team for Friday’s Super League
The first victor in the CHIO 2006 was Jos Lansink of Belgium. Eight riders managed to make the jump off but Sweden’s Malin Baryard-Johnsson was the only female to qualify for the jump off. Last year the Ladies won the “Battle of the Sexes” and a hope for a repeat failed when Mailin finished 6th.
Lansink gave his fellow competitors little chance as he was almost 4 seconds better than Germany’s Thomas Weinberg who claimed second place. There were no Americans in the competition.
Lansink, rode the ten-year-old Belgian mare, Ta Belle van Sombeke, and finished the winning round with the fastest time of 55.68 seconds. Thomas Weinberg, the 19 year old son of Peter and Helena Weinberg finished second.
Morris Selects Friday’s Team
The USA’s George Morris took no time in selecting his team for the competition. At Aachen, there will be one change from LaBaule with Beezie Madden and Authentic replacing Jefferey Welles and Armani in the teams line up.
Margie Engle, Lauren Hough and McLain Ward remain on the A Team. Laura Kraut is still at home.
