While the FEI Dressage final was taking place in Amsterdam, Europe’s Spring Jumping Tour was at Lumen, Belgium. Peter Wylde (USA) enjoyed some success on both Friday and Saturday riding Hockey Blues D’Amaury, a 1995 stallion that was ridden most of last year by Michel Robert (FRA).
On Friday, Peter was 3rd in the 1.4m International Competition where he finished with a clear ride. There were 89 entries in this class that was won by Vincent Lambrecht (BEL) and Orage.
On Saturday, he finished 4th in the 1.45m International Competition on Hockey Blues D’Amaury. Wylde was also faultless in the class that was won by Ludo Philippaerts (BEL) aboard Narcotique De Muze IV. Also on Saturday, Peter won the 1.4m competition with a double clear ride on Varitino Oh.
On Sunday, Wylde was 5th in the 1.3m final aboard Lipton Luothain, a gelding owned by Jessica Sluda. Although Peter competed in Sunday’s Main Event the 1.5m Grand Prix, he finished down in the field of 75 starters finishing in 60th place with 16 faults aboard Meatryus Pleasure, a mare owned by Ecurie de Meautry.
Jumping Amsterdam
Michael Whitaker aboard Quidame des Hayettes claimed victory over a field of 33 in Sunday’s BMC Grand Prix of Amsterdam. Whitaker proved to be the strongest of the four who qualified for the Jump Off with clear rides in the final of Jumping Amsterdam 2006.
Three Dutch riders, joined the Englishman in the Jump Off. Relatively unknown Mareille Schröder (not related to Gerco) surprised the crowd when she posted the first clear of the day with the KWPN-mare Parabel. Harry Smolders aboard Verelst Quebec was the second clear followed by Gerco Schröder riding Eurocommerce Lanapoule.
Mareille Schröder finished second . Harrie Smolders ended in third ahead of Gerco Schröder.
