JUNIOR COMPETITORS RECEIVE TOP HONORS

Junior Jumper Champion and WIHS Equitation Champion Culminate Five Days of Intense Competition

(Washington, DC) – October 13, 2025 – The Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization benefiting local and regional non-profit organizations, concluded the Junior Jumper division this afternoon with the Senator’s Cup class. During the first round, eight riders completed the course without faults, forcing a highly competitive jump off.

Tina Dilandri on Chanel 292 was the first rider to tackle the jump off course, setting a quick pace of 29.781 seconds. Her time held throughout the round, with only three other riders jumping cleanly. Clementine Goutal, the only rider who qualified for the jump off on two different horses, finished second and third on Kelline Fonroy and Rastella, respectively. Kelline Fonroy posted a time of 29.794 seconds and Rastella completed the course in 31.063 seconds.

Following the Senator’s Cup class, the Junior Jumper Champion was announced. The Senator’s Cup winner, Tina Dilandri earned the title aboard Chanel 292. Dilandri placed second in the Junior Jumper (TFJO) class, sixth in the Junior Jumper (TFR) class, and first in the Senator’s cup, to post an overall score of 16 1/2 points out of 30 possible points.

The Reserve Champion, with a total of 14 points, in the Junior Jumper Divisions was Catie Boone riding Naleida. Boone placed first in the Junior Jumper (TFJO) class, third in the (TFR) class, and ninth in the Senator’s Cup.

The Best Child Rider on Horse and Style of Riding Award were also announced following the Senator’s Cup. Jennifer Waxman, riding Saloon, won the Best Child Rider on Horse awards for her efforts in the Large Junior Working Hunter (15 & Under) division. The Best Style of Riding award went to Clementine Goutal aboard Due North, who rode in the Large Junior Hunter (16-17) division.

The Washington International Horse Show Equitation class also concluded tonight after three phases. The first phase consisted of a Hunter class, the second was a Jumper class and the final phase was a second Jumper class, but riders were required to switch horses.

After the first two rounds, Victoria Birdsall led the competition with 164.999 points, while Mathew Matell and Zazou Hoffman were second and third, respectively. Riders were required to switch horses during the third round, putting their equitation skills to the test. Maria Schaub proved worthy, receiving first place on I Toon. Tina Dilandri, on R.S.V.P., and Tatiana Dzavik, riding Littlefoot, received second and third, respectively.

Tomorrow concludes the 49th annual Washington International Horse Show. The Pony Championships and Local Finals will close the show.
