CASA LUSITANA WINS 2006 IALHA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Tyngsboro, MA. Casa Lusitana captured multiple national championships at the October 2006 IALHA (International Andalusian and Lusitano Horse Association) annual competition in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Jorge Gabriel and his eight year old stallion Sansao HM were the high point Grand Prix champions with a score of 74.25.

Other Casa Lusitana horses were awarded 2006’s Best of Breed status in every age category including

Signo Itapua – National Champion Stallion 6+ years
Xanel HM – National Champion Stallion 4-5 years
Bailarina HM – National Champion Filly 3 and under years
Casa Lusitana captured several National Championships in other categories as well.

As customary for this farm, each winner was personally selected, imported from Brazil and trained by Jorge Gabriel, Casa Lusitana’s owner. “We are exceptionally proud of our fine horses” says Mr. Gabriel. “We select horses for their kind and serious temperament as a first quality. But athletic abilities, conformation and suitability for a selected riding purpose are important considerations as well. Clearly, others agree that these three champions reflect the finest of the breed in these characteristics.”

Casa Lusitana also presented several demonstrations for the enjoyment of the evening program audiences. Noted Portuguese bullfighter Alberto Conde on Solar HM (2005’s National Champion Senior Stallion) paired with Jorge Gabriel on Sanso HM to perform a pas de deux demonstrating the versatility of the breed with both dressage and working equitation movements.

“We are committed to continuing our support for these IALHA national championships” states Jorge Gabriel. “The Lusitano and Andalusian breeds are growing in popularity across all riding disciplines. Our farm and our friends including leading dressage riders who are now discovering the delights of the Iberian horse are hearing about the show, its good facilities and fun and are making plans to attend next year. We look forward to seeing horses from across the US and from Mexico, Brazil and other countries attend, compete and grow the visibility for these fine horses.”
