Chapot Takes Over Lead in 6-Pack Rider Bonus; Only Kursinski and Ward Have a Chance to Overtake

Cazenovia, NY, October 22, 2006: Laura Chapot and Little Big Man won the $60,000 Budweiser Prix de Penn at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show last night, catapulting her into first place in the Budweiser 6-Pack rider bonus standings with only one event remaining in the series. Megan Johnstone on Ollandaise was second and Schuyler Riley on Nottingham was third, but neither rider’s total 6-Pack series points threaten Chapot. The $30,000 winner-take-all rider bonus will be determined at the Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament’s $75,000 Budweiser World Cup Qualifier on November 4. Chapot’s fate will be left in the hands of other riders as she has elected not to compete at Syracuse. Anne Kursinski, who is holding on to second, is $5,800 behind Chapot and a sixth place finish or better at Syracuse will clinch the bonus for her. Katie Prudent, who sits in third in the series standings also will not be competing. The only remaining threat to Chapot is McLain Ward, but it will take nothing less than a win for him in Syracuse to win the bonus since he is $21,550 short of Chapot’s mark.

The Budweiser 6-Pack Rider Bonus is a collaboration of Budweiser and the organizers of the Devon, Upperville, Beacon Hill, Lake Placid, Pennsylvania National and Syracuse Invitational horse shows. The rider bonus is a $30,000 cash award that will be given to the rider that earns the most combined prize money in the Grands Prix at the six participating events. A rider’s total prize monies are calculated as the sum of the rider’s single highest placing mount’s earnings at each of the six member events in which the rider competes. The 6-Pack series will finish at the Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament on November 4.
