123rd National Horse Show and Family Festival Announces Linda Luster as the Official Artist for 2006

Wellington, FL – October 19, 2025 – The 123rd National Horse Show and Family Festival (NHS), held from November 29 through December 3, 2025 at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club in Wellington, Florida, is pleased to announce that Linda Luster has been honored as this year’s Official Artist. Luster, who resides in Rocky Ridge, MD, will recreate the well-known image that has been used for the National Horse Show poster since 1883. The annual poster depicts a bob-tailed horse with a rider in a top hat and hunt coat jumping over a post and rail fence. Luster will design the poster with her artistic excellence and will also design party invitations with a similar theme.

“I am surprised!” related Luster about being selected as the Official Artist. “The National Horse Show is a great event that I’ve always wanted to be a part of. To be down in Florida, representing the National Horse Show, is a thrill!”

As a child, Luster worked with renowned painter Jack Clifton and, in 1974, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Printmaking from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In 1982, she had three of her portraits, which were drawn in pencil, featured on covers of The Chronicle of the Horse.

An avid horsewoman as well, Luster took twenty years off of her artwork to pursue riding, training, and competing as a professional in the discipline of dressage. She trained horses to the FEI Level and also earned a Silver Medal with the United States Dressage Federation. Today she continues to teach students and ride; however, she switched her attention from horses back to her artistic talent when she and her husband built their farm in Maryland.

“When I came back to it, I gravitated toward oil painting,” noted Luster. “I like to focus on commission pieces now, and I attend some of the larger horse shows, such as the Pennsylvania National Horse Show and the Syracuse Invitational [Sport Horse Tournament].”

“Fifteen artists sent in entries,” stated Elizabeth Hedley, Sponsorships and Special Events Coordinator for Stadium Jumping, Inc. “The selection of only one was quite difficult. A committee of six narrowed the field down to four and then proudly selected Linda Luster as this year’s Official Artist from the finalists.”

The 123rd National Horse Show has invited every artist that submitted his or her work to join the Art Exhibition titled “The Horse: In and Out.” The exhibition is held from November 29 to December 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. “This year is expected to be bigger and better with the Wellington Chamber of Commerce Expo joining us on Saturday, as well as the many exhibitors expected to return to the National Horse Show to compete in the Rolex USEF Jumping Championship,” commented Hedley.

The 123rd National Horse Show and Family Festival offers a variety of activities for equestrians, families, and members of the community. An equestrian tradition since 1883, this competition showcases top hunter, jumper, and dressage competitors at their highest levels.
