The NAL Series Finals have been taking place at the Pennsylvania Horse Show since 1995. According to Lloyd Longenecker, Administrator of the NAL series, the program is bigger and better than ever.
“Membership is up and entries are up,” said Longenecker. “The series is something we can do to give back to the horse community,”
Athens Olympic Team Gold Medalist, McLain Ward, of Brewster, NY, is a huge fan of the NAL program. Ward is a two-time winner of the $25,000 NAL Open Jumper Speed Finals and will be vying for a third title on Goldika 559 this Friday evening.
“The NAL Series is fantastic,” said Ward. “It’s been very, very good to me. I have a good horse this year, we’ll see what happens.”
The North American League (NAL) runs season-long series in six hunter-jumper divisions – Children’s Hunter, Children’s Jumper, Adult Hunter, presented by Practical Horseman, Adult Jumper, Pony Jumper and Open Jumper Speed. The qualifying period kicks off on September 1 and runs through August 31. Top riders in the final series standings are allowed to compete in a championship final at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show each October. Riders need not be members of the NAL to compete in any qualifying classes, but only current members earn points toward year-end finals.
