Laura Kraut returned to action today in the Trofeo Massimo Dutti. She had been released from the hospital on Friday following complaining of severe headaches. No major problem was found and thus Kraut returned to action this morning.
Forty-One Horse and Rider combinations came to the starting gate in this Table A against the clock (Art. 238.2.1) competition. Eight riders manage faultfree rounds and another three incurred just time penalties as Roger Yyes Bost of France riding Kire Royal Star was fastest by more than a second (53.55) over his nearest competitior Harrie Smolders (NED) aboard Indiana (54.61). Brazil’s Felipe Ramos Guinato on Javelot Du Loup was 3rd in 56.16.
The real story for Team USA supporters was the return of Laura Kraut. She rode Roadrunner to a fifteenth place finish with a solid 4 fault ride in 59.96. Margie Engle (USA) on Calipo 12 finished in 14th with 4 faults in a time of 59.80.
George Morris, U.S. Chef d’Equipe, named Kraut of Wellington, Florida and Miss Independent to the final Super League Team that will represent the USA in Sunday’s competition. In addition to Kraus, the team consists of Beezie Madden of Cazenovia, N.Y. and Authentic, McLain Ward of Brewster, N.Y. and Sapphire and Margie Engle of Wellington, Florida and Hidden Creek’s Quervo Gold.
