The $6,000 1.45 Jumper Stake, scored under Table II, Sec. 2 (b), Time First-Jump-Off was the main event at today’s competition at Cleveland’s American Gold Cup. Twenty-one starters came to the in gate but the first competitior, Todd Minikus aboard Loxahatchee established a mark that was untouchable for the rest of the field. He led the way into the jump-off and never looked back.
Minikus eased his way in the jumpoff and finished his ride with a time of 34.952 seconds.
William Lowry and Rio Corde were a distant second in a time of 35.539 seconds. Alison Robitaille with La Supra was third.
The High Junior-Amateur Owner Jumpers made their debut today competing under the Table II, Sec 2 (b) Time First Jump-Off format.
Louis Jacobs aboard Kachina beat out Ali Wolff by more than 2 seconds for the win. Jacob’s crossed the wire in 36.283 seconds for the blue. Wolff broke the beams in 38.903 seconds.
Tracy Weinberg was in the action as she ,managed a third, fourth and fifth place finish. Although she had the best time at 36.102 seconds, a rail cost her the victory.
The $25,000 American Gold Cup Welcome Stake is the big event on Friday. It is a qualification for Sunday’s Gold Cup Final.
