Opening Day at Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic Kicks Off Show Jumping Action

Hamilton, MA – September 6, 2025 – The Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic launched today at the Coldwell Banker Previews Grand Prix Field in Hamilton, MA. Chilly morning cloud cover and threats of rain delayed the start of the show until noon; however, a welcomed sun appeared and warmed up the day for exhibitors. In the grand prix ring, the $500 Young Jumper Class was the first class to get underway.

Held under a Level 6, Table II, Sec 2(b) format, today’s Young Jumper course was designed by Richard Jeffery of Bournemouth, England. His design for the first course had a time allowed of 74 seconds, and the jump-off allowed 43 seconds for riders to complete the short course without penalty.

Schuyler Riley of Wellington, FL, guided her mount, Undine, to a blue ribbon finish. She and Undine, owned by Turtle Hall Farm, broke the beam without fault in 32.738 seconds, and their fast time held up for the top spot on the leader board.

“Undine is a six year old mare that I bred from my old Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper,” commented Riley about her Young Jumper. “I showed her last week at the Myopia Jumper Classic, and she was great. She’s super easy and gives it her best every time she goes in the ring. The field rode really well today,” she added. “I had pretty good size studs in, so I think that helped a lot.”

“It’s really nice that they have just two rings here and that it’s only jumpers,” continued Riley. “This show is similar to those in Europe because everything is geared toward the exhibitors and the horses, and they also work hard to make it nice for the spectators.”

Riley will continue to show Undine in the Young Jumper classes and will move her up for the Mohegan Sun Speed Stake on Sunday, September 10. Second place in the Young Jumper Class went to Darren Graziano aboard his own Westenwind. Graziano, who hails from Wellington, FL, stopped the clock with a penalty free jump-off in 33.927 seconds. Third place was awarded to Theodore Demetrio on Poko Van Depco, owned by New Windsor Stable. The duo tripped the timers in 38.453 seconds.

Nineteen competitors went to post today in the $500 Level 6 class, which was held under the same format and course as the Young Jumpers. The victory gallop was led by Joanne Kovacs, who rode Noberina for Storm Ridge Capital, LLC. Kovacs crossed the finish line in 32.336 seconds, edging Kate Levy and Freeze Frame into second. Levy, who also resides in Wellington, FL, and her horse came home fault free in 33.059 seconds. Third place was awarded to Charmed and Darlene Sandlin. Charmed, owned by Callie Bass, just missed second place with her clear jump-off time of 33.066 seconds.

In the $1,000 Level 7 class, also held under a Table II, Sec 2(b) format, a time of 72 seconds was allotted for the first course. Forty-seven seconds was the time allowed for the tie breaker. Kate Levy improved upon her second place finish in the previous class and came away with the win in the Level 7. She rode her own horse, Witney Van Berkenbroek, for top honors after coming home with a fast jump off time of 31.321 seconds. Darren Graziano finished in second with Zorro’s Precision MBA, owned by Debra Hirsch of East Kingston, NH. Graziano just missed the top spot with his time of 31.519, and the third place finisher, Colin Syquia, was close behind after stopping the clock in 31.569 seconds. Syquia rode Qena II, who is owned by Ladson LLC of Acramdale, NY.

Show Jumping action continues tomorrow on the Coldwell Banker Previews Grand Prix Field with the Young Jumpers, the High Junior-Amateur Owners, and the $1,000 South Ridge Level 7 speed class.
