Farewell and Rachel Koggan Capture the Amateur-Owner Hunter 18-35 Championship at the 2010 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival

January 16, 2026

Wellington, FL - January 16, 2026 - Tricolors were awarded today in the younger Amateur-Owner Hunter division at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, home of the 2010 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival. The first week of the 12-week long circuit concludes tomorrow.

Earning the championship in the Amateur-Owner 18-35 Hunters this week was Rachel Koggan, riding her mount Farewell. Koggan and the 11-year-old Farewell, bred by the well-known hunter Tribute, were first and second yesterday over fences, and placed sixth and first over fences today. They were fourth in the under saddle to clinch the championship title. The reserve champion this week was Zoom, owned and ridden by Laura Sexton.

Koggan has been riding Farewell for three years, so the duo has built a great relationship together. Koggan describes the striking bay as a “total show horse that knows his job.” Farewell thrived off of the windy weather this morning in the E.R. Mische Grand Hunter Field, earning a high score of 86 in the second round over fences.

Although Farewell has not shown since the Washington International Horse Show in October of 2009, it did not seem like he missed a beat in the show ring. “This was beyond all my expectations for this weekend,” Koggan said with a smile.

Koggan, originally from New Jersey, is currently attending Florida Atlantic University. Since she must juggle her time between school and riding, she is planning to show every other weekend, and plans to focus on the Bainbridge AHJF/WCHR Hunter Spectacular during week 6 of the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival.

Koggan praised the efforts of her trainers Scott Stewart and Ken Berkley, stating, “They have been so influential with my riding and have helped me tremendous amounts.”

The hunters finish their first week of competition tomorrow with a full schedule of divisions in seven different show rings.
