2006 World Champion Jos Lansink with Beezie Madden (silver), bronze medallist Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum(bronze) and Edwina Alexander, 4th. At the end of a grandiose Jumping Finale, Jos Lansink (BEL) was crowned the 2006 World Individual Jumping Champion without having committed, himself or his grey stallion Cavalor Cumano, a single mistake for the whole competition with rotation of horses. Belgian snaps up gold ahead of Madden and Michaels-Beerbaum in gripping final
Jos Lansink is the new World Show-jumping Champion. On the last day of the FEI World Equestrian Games Aachen 2006 on Sunday, the Belgian rider with his stallion Cavalor Cumano beat Beezie Madden (USA) with Authentic (4/43.74) and Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum from Thedinghausen with Shutterfly (4/45.40) in the jump-off. But, it was a wet, windy and wonderful finale to an amazing two weeks of equestrian sport at the 2006 Aachen World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany. By all accounts, it has turned out to be the biggest and most impressive equestrian competition in history. Now Aachen, a European city world-renowned for horse competition, passes the proverbial torch to another great world-class horse city (Lexington, Kentucky) to host the next FEI Games in four years in 2010. Bridgehampton, NY—September 2, 2006—Chris Kappler of Pittstown, NJ, closed the deal to win the $25,000 Sotheby’s International Realty Open Jumper Class at the 31st Annual Hampton Classic Horse Show. Kappler, winner of team Gold and individual Silver Medals at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, was on VDL Maseratie, owned by VDL Stud & Juan Pablo. (More…)
Driver Tucker Johnson Leads Americans with 14th Place Finish
Aachen, Germany - The show jumpers returned to day four of five in a hotly contested race to the medal podium. America’s Beezie Madden and Authentic have dazzled the legions of show jumping fans that have traveled to Aachen to witness the very best of the best. Today’s two-round go was the decisive test of which four horse-and-rider pairs were asked to return for one last round on Sunday. The winner will be awarded the final medal to be handed out as the successful and exciting two weeks of equestrian competition at one of Europe’s legendary horse showgrounds comes to a celebrated close. At the end of a thrilling fourth day, the four riders who will compete for the Individual title of 2006 World Jumping Champion are: Beezie Madden (USA) on Athentic; Jos Lansink (BEL) on Cavalor Cumano; Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (GER) on Shutterly, and Edwina Alexander (AUS) on Isovlas Pialotta.
