Eventing: Zara Phillips takes the lead ahead of Bettina Hoy

Two Americans Qualify for the Musical Freestyle at the 2006 WEG; Eventers and Vaulters Move Along in Their Medal Bids

But two Americans made it look like a walk in the park. American’s Guenter Seidel and Steffen Peters, who are now both poised to enter a showdown among the top 15 dressage riders that have made the cut to move forward to Saturday’s final dressage phase–the musical freestyle–in a battle to see who will take home dressage’s top honor and the title of world champion. Bettina Hoy (GER) aboard Ringwood Cockatoo is in the lead with a remarkable 36.50. “It was amazing to see so many fans cheering with German flags all over. It was hard, but I remained focused on Dressage,” Bettina said. She, as a true supporter of her own nation, has died parts of her hair in the colours of the German flag and is very much part of the bright atmosphere. (More…)

Isabell Werth wins the Grand Prix Special

Isabell Werth (GER) and her 12-year old gelding Satchmo rode the Grand Prix Special of a lifetime. With a result of 79.480, they are World Champions. “It was the best test I’ve ever ridden,” a very emotional Isabell declared. (More…)

It’s Not Such a Big World After All….

Today, I eavesdropped in on a conversation between two women, each speaking different languages. One of them would ask a question in French and the other answered in German, and vice versa. It was a lot for me ears to take, but once I caught on to exactly what I was hearing, it made me think about how diverse the crowd is attending the World Equestrian Games. (More…)

Isabell Werth (GER) is Dressage World Champion as Steffen Peters (USA) takes fourth

The crowd held their breath: The Dutch rider Anky van Grunsven and her 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding, Salinero, gave an excellent, faultless performance and with a score of 77.8 percent secured their standing as one of the top favourites for the gold medal. Minutes later the next rider, Isabell Werth, risked everything with her 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding, Satchmo, and presented the best Spéciale in her career. (More…)

Princess Haya visits children’s center for therapeutic riding

FEI President takes a trip to the Kohlshof: “Team’s heartwarming commitment”

H.R.H. Princess Haya of Jordan, accompanied by members of the German Vaulting team, took time during the FEI World Equestrian Games Aachen 2006 to pay an informal visit to the Kohlshof in Aachen - the “Riding Therapy in Adventure Land”. 60 children are currently undergoing therapeutic riding treatment at the center under the dedicated supervision of Angelika Todzey´s team of volunteers and therapists. Vaulting: Nations closing ranks
